While working as the FX Supervisor at Sinking Ship Entertainment, I had the privilege of contributing to a project for the Saudi Space Agency (SSA). This collaboration with Switch VFX was a complex and exciting endeavor, where I was responsible for creating the intricate FX elements. The project involved designing and simulating the space shuttle thrusters’ ignition and the subsequent smoke trails, crucial elements in conveying the power and realism of the launch sequences.

Using a combination of Maya, Bifrost, and Houdini, I crafted these effects and rendered them with Arnold to achieve the desired photorealistic quality. The final compositing, skillfully handled by Switch VFX in Nuke, brought everything together, ensuring that the visual effects seamlessly integrated into the live-action footage. This project was a testament to the power of collaboration and the cutting-edge technology we utilized to bring the SSA’s vision to life.
