As the FX Supervisor on the Sandy Chicks movie at Sinking Ship Entertainment, I had the pleasure of leading a team of seven incredibly talented FX artists. Our primary challenge was to create a visually striking geyser that shot high-pressure bubbles, ensuring that it matched the 2D light concepts from multiple angles. This required precise coordination and creativity, as we needed to balance the artistic vision with technical execution to achieve the desired effect.
In addition to the geyser, we also developed a comprehensive library of dust, sand, and water impacts splashes that could be reused across the film. This approach not only maintained visual consistency but also significantly reduced simulation times, allowing us to focus our efforts on perfecting other complex effects. The combination of innovative techniques and strong teamwork resulted in a series of effects that added depth and dynamism to the film’s visual storytelling.
