As the FX Lead on the beloved PBS show Odd Squad, I had the opportunity to contribute to some of the series’ most memorable and imaginative moments. My role involved creating a variety of complex visual effects, from dynamic water simulations and CG tornadoes to the intricate task of designing CG crowds that seamlessly blended into the live-action footage. One of the standout challenges was crafting an entire CG forest, which came to life with a gigantic mouse running through it, adding a unique and fantastical element to the show.
Among the many effects I worked on, one of my personal favorites was the wormhole gadget featured in the final episode. This effect required a combination of creative vision and technical precision to achieve the desired otherworldly look. The result was a visually striking and memorable piece that played a crucial role in the show’s climactic moments. My work on Odd Squad allowed me to push the boundaries of what could be achieved in children’s television, contributing to a show that continues to captivate and inspire young audiences.
